The Undying

A man in love whose chance still remains
does nothing but lay in his bed
begging for an answer to end his pains
when a voice answers, within his head

It says: I am here to take your heart to the grave
He says: but why? I asked for the knowledge I crave
It says: you mean that of love and desire?
He says: yes, to be with the person I admire
It says: the person who has yet to destroy?
He says: no, the person who brings me joy
It says: the person who is the puppet master?
He says: no, the person who makes my heart beat faster
It says: but the beat will exhaust and slowly cease
He says: not so long as I am at peace
It says: well at peace you will be if you bury that heart now
He says: no, that I will never allow
It says: there is no need to fear
He says: tell me, why did you come here?
It says: to save you of course
He says: but I have begged until my voice become hoarse
It says: for love, I know, I have heard your cries
He says: then surely you have seen through my eyes
It says: I have and trust me, it's all a lie
He says: no matter what you say, I am going to try
It says: Trust me, you will not advance
He says: I still want to take the chance

To love undyingly is not always best
but people often become blind
sometimes it is better to leave it to rest
unless you have the strongest mind
